John Mathieson, the Director of Photography in Gladiator 2 has criticized Ridley Scott’s filmmaking habits in the epic sequel.

Ridley Scott and David Scarpa, who previously worked together on All the Money in the World and Napoleon, reteamed again for the sequel Gladiator II.

Ridley Scott, maker of whatever movies he pleases, has said in a new interview that there will “certainly” be a Gladiator 3:

Mathieson told "The DocFix Documentary Storytelling Podcast" that Scott's approach is "not very good for cinematography."

Gladiator II has been making headlines as part of its run through the 2024 movie schedule, and not all of them are pleasant. Case in point: a recent story involved cinematographer John Mathieson apparently calling director Ridley Scott “lazy” and accusing him of rushing the recent films of his output.
